Early Treatment

Your Fairbanks Orthodontist Treats Children!

Early Treatment

At Alaska Braces, your child’s Fairbanks orthodontics practice, orthodontist Dr. Hobson knows how to give your child a timeless, healthy smile to benefit his or her future. By offering an array of orthodontic treatment options, including the latest invisible braces, clear braces, ceramic braces, gold braces, removable appliances and Invisalign braces, our orthodontics practice can provide your child with a personalized treatment plan that is both highly effective and efficient.

When should your child see Dr. Hobson?

Your Fairbanks orthodontic practice and the American Association of Orthodontists recommend that you take your child to receive a first orthodontic screening by the age of 7. Early orthodontic treatment helps us find potential problems and correct them before they become more problematic or require orthognathic surgery (jaw surgery). Moreover, early treatment will help you and your child save time and money.

Can your child go to Alaska Braces later?

Though your child can visit our office at a later age, the overall desired result of early interceptive orthodontic treatment has proven to be very beneficial. This is because children’s permanent teeth have not finished the eruption process. As a result, we have the opportunity to thoroughly evaluate front-to-back and side-to-side tooth relationships, which helps address future problems earliest.

What happens at your child’s first visit?

During your child’s initial visit, Dr. Hobson and his team will first determine if there are any problems that need to be immediately addressed, including:

  • Potential crowding
  • Openbite
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Gummy smiles

For some children, immediate orthodontic treatment may not be necessary. Whether your child needs treatment now or later, we will develop a customized treatment plan that will most effectively benefit his or her smile.

What are the benefits of early orthodontic care?

Though treatment varies among children, orthodontic care may include removable or fixed appliances that lead to the following long-term benefits:

  • Provide more room for crowded, erupting teeth
  • Preserve space for teeth not erupted yet
  • Create facial symmetry by manipulating jaw growth
  • Reduce the possibility of tooth extraction
  • Reduce overall treatment time in braces

Testimonials

My son went in for a consultation and I was pleasantly surprised with how helpful and kind everyone was. He was nervous, but the woman we saw made him smile and loosen up. We decided to go with Dr. Hobson after seeing how understanding and caring his staff was and considering the fact he does interest free payments, I can now afford braces for my son!.

Dr. Henry placed a TAD for me to help fix my overbite and had originally planned to place more but moved right in the middle of my treatment. So my treatment plan changed when Dr. Hobson came in and he decided the TADS would not work well enough for my condition and teeth removal was needed. Since I had already been given a quote from Dr. Henry, Dr. Hobson completely covered the difference in cost to have my teeth pulled! He went above and beyond in making a unfortunate change, easy!.
